About the museum
The Museo Etnológico de Pesoz is devoted to wine and to the traditional way of harvesting and making it in this municipality in western Asturias. Pesoz forms part, together with Allande, Cangas del Narcea, Degaña, Grandas de Salime, Ibias, Illano and some parishes of Tineo, of the area covered by the protected geographical indication “Vino de Calidad de Cangas”.
The route is divided into three parts. In the visitor reception, panels and a map present the municipality and its resources and introduce the subject of wine; the Pesoz tourist information office also operates in this room. The interpretive room explains, through panels, a video, an interactive panel and objects in display cases, the cultivation of the vine and the making of wine, as well as distillation and grape varieties. Finally, the winery room reproduces a traditional Pesoz winery with the equipment needed to make wine once the grapes arrive at the cellar.
In February 2024 the Pesoz town council announced that the museum would remain closed until further notice, and its website still shows that notice.
