Ecomuseo del Pan

About the museum

The Ecomuseo del Pan is in Santa Eufemia, in the Asturian municipality of Villanueva de Oscos, and is run by the town council. It shows the complete bread cycle, from sowing the cereal to baking, through harvesting, milling and kneading.

The complex includes a visitor reception area, a sowing zone, a threshing floor (era), a hórreo, a mill and an interpretation centre divided into three rooms. In each room part of the process is explained with panels, farm implements and tools: “De la tierra a la era” (sowing and harvesting), “De la era al hórreo” (threshing and storing the grain) and “Del hórreo a la mesa” (milling, preparation and consumption).

Outdoors there is also a hórreo with its storage chests (arcones) for the grain, a threshing machine, a vegetable garden where cereal is sown, and a mill. The municipality's tourist information service also operates on the same site.
