About the museum
The Museo Regional del Bolillo opened in La Palma on 17 November 2000 as the first and only museum of its kind in the Region of Murcia. It was promoted by the Asociación de encajeras Santa Florentina de La Palma (Santa Florentina Lacemakers' Association), founded in 1997. Around 2010 a new building was erected on Calle Alberto Colao.
The collection brings together recent production and antique pieces, some more than a hundred years old, such as lace edgings, doilies, fans, combs and handkerchiefs, on loan or donated. An annual gathering of lacemakers also takes place in La Palma.
