About the museum
Ca n'Ortadó is a Noucentista summer house built around 1930 over earlier buildings, the work of the architect Joaquim Llobet. It draws inspiration from the Catalan masia (farmhouse) and incorporates elements of vernacular architecture. It is a testimony to the boom in summer residences that drove the population growth of the early 20th century.
The building was rehabilitated between 1993 and 1996. Between 1998 and 2010 it housed a permanent exhibition on the history of Cerdanyola del Vallès. The museum is currently closed to the public for renovation works; the project envisages reopening it as a space devoted to the city's history from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.
The romantic-style garden, restored and open to the public since 2012, recovers its original layout with its parterres, two cedars and an ancient holm oak. It continues to host educational and cultural activities, and events are also held on the ground floor of the house.
