About the museum
The Roda Roda – Museu de l’Automoció de Lleida is a municipal museum run by Lleida city council, opened in 2002. It occupies a former motor workshop beside the Camps Elisis park, whose original structure has been preserved as far as possible.
The core of the collection comes from an agreement with the collector Francesc Segura, who contributed 14 cars, 5 motorcycles and other car-related pieces. Historic vehicles already owned by the council were later added, such as motorbikes of the Guardia Urbana (city police), fire engines and official cars, as well as donations from other collectors. Today the Colección Municipal de Vehículos Históricos has 97 objects, and the museum also holds around 1,800 scale models and some forty private vehicles on deposit.
The route is organised by theme and includes cars, motorcycles, engines, public-service and agricultural vehicles, miniatures and a re-creation of a 1950s workshop. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum stages temporary exhibitions within the cycle “La peça del trimestre”, and it has an educational room and an information point with a specialist library.
