About the museum
The Ängersjö skogsmuseum (forest museum), also known as Kojbyn, grew out of the village association's work to restore a water-powered grindstone at the mill and grinding dam. A forest hut was added afterwards, and over some thirty years a complete forest museum was built up, mainly by volunteers. The museum was opened in 1989 in the presence of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
On the site, which lies in a forest clearing about a kilometre before the village, there are around fifteen buildings spread over roughly two hectares. These include an oak house (ekohus), a smithy, a charcoal-burner's cabin, a cast model of a power station dam and a delousing oven, as well as the log cabin Skogens hus with an exhibition on forestry and its importance for Sweden. Visitors can see tools and living quarters from the forestry days of the early 20th century and walk along the nature trail.
The museum was run for a long time by Ängersjö village association and had up to about 5,000 visitors per summer. After a period of closure, Kojbyn reopened to visitors in summer 2025 under a new manager in the village.
