About the museum
The forest museum is located in the western part of the Börningsberget nature reserve in Ljusdal Municipality. It shows older forestry through tools, medar and other implements from the daily work in the forest, and gives an impression of the life and housing conditions of forest workers.
On the site there are two forest huts, a stable and a charcoal burner's hut from around 1900. Stormyrstugan was built in 1905 at Stormyren, south of Fågelsjön, as night lodgings for forest guards and officials, and was moved to Börningsberget at the beginning of the 1970s. Lillskogsdammskojan was originally built at Lillskogsdammen as housing for sixteen men, a type of hut that was common in the area until the 1940s, and was moved here in 1975.
The museum was renovated in 2018 and kept its original form and texts. In connection with this, four photomontages by the artist Lars-Eric Vänerlöf were added, intended to make visitors reflect on the forest through an image and objects from a bygone era.
