About the museum
Eslövs Leksaksmuseum (Eslöv Toy Museum) is a private collection that the Sundberg family built up over many years, and it opened to visitors in 2011, in time for Eslöv's 100th anniversary as a town. The museum is located in a former clothing factory on Kvarngatan in central Eslöv, where sewing machines once stood in the large hall.
The collection began with a small green Märklin shunting locomotive more than 50 years ago. The trains, carriages, houses and tracks grew in number, and at the end of the 1990s construction of the 300-square-metre model railway began in earnest. The installation has about 500 metres of track, 660 houses, around 250 locomotives and 600 carriages.
The museum also has 940 Barbie dolls in their original packaging, more than 5,000 toy and model cars, about 9,000 hand-painted tin soldiers, Playmobil and Lego worlds, PEZ figures, Smurfs, and a collection of TV and computer games from the 1970s onwards.
