About the museum
Gamlegårds hembygdsmuseum (Gamlegård local heritage museum) in Billinge was founded in 1918 and is one of Skåne's oldest local heritage museums. The main farm, Billinge No. 12, is already mentioned in 1283 in the archives of Lund Cathedral. The museum is administered by Stiftelsen Gamlegård i Billinge (the Gamlegård in Billinge foundation), which also runs the Industrimuseet i Stockamöllan (Stockamöllan industrial museum).
The site consists of seven buildings, six of which stand on their original sites. The cottage range from 1739 has a preserved interior, and the stable building from 1804 houses objects from various crafts. In the coaching-inn building there is, among other things, a complete general store and a room with a play corner for the youngest. There is also a school museum, a shoemaker's workshop, a brewhouse and a carriage museum.
The museum also works as an info point, where visitors can get personal tips on what there is to see and do in central Skåne and pick up a map of visitor sites. It is close to the Rönneå (Rönne River) and Söderåsen National Park.
