About the museum
A mill has stood at Stockamöllan since the Middle Ages, and in 1684 the place was first called Stockamöllan. A new mill building was completed in 1852, and a few years later a circular saw was set up, so that Stockamöllans Kvarn & Sågverk (mill and sawmill) was formed. In 1897 water turbines were installed, and electric light came to Stockamöllan.
Around 1900 the company produced, among other things, planks, boards, cogs, parquet strips and wheelbarrows. A limited company was formed in 1906 under the name Stockamöllans AB, and the smithy was extended into a mechanical workshop. Later, lifting trolleys, transport carts, wheels and wooden products such as deck chairs, planing benches and garden furniture were made. By the mid-20th century production focused on forklift trucks and fork-lift trolleys.
The Industrimuseet was inaugurated in 1994 by the then county antiquarian Carin Bunte and shows the history and development of the district and of Stockamöllan AB. The museum is run by Stiftelsen Gamlegård i Billinge (the Gamlegård Foundation in Billinge).
