About the museum
Färgargården lies at Åbackarna along the Motala ström (river), a short distance south-west of central Norrköping. The houses were moved there when a museum of dyeing history opened in 1939. The buildings Stampen (the stamping house) and Färgeriet (the dye house) come from Dalarna, while the other houses come from Östergötland.
The farm shows how rural dyers lived and worked in the 1800s. The buildings are managed by the technical office, while the object collections are looked after by Norrköping City Museum. There is a garden café by the farm.
