About the museum

Norrköpings Spårvägsmuseum (Norrköping Tramway Museum) shows cars, objects and pictures from more than 110 years of tramway history in Norrköping. The museum is run as a cooperation between Norrköping Municipality's technical office and the Östergötland section of Svenska Spårvägssällskapet (the Swedish Tramway Society). It is located on Stohagsgatan on Oxelbergen, next to the tram sheds behind the former Östra station.

The collection includes, among other things, the veteran tram No. 1, called Gamla Ettan (Old Number One), made by ASEA in 1903, and the motor car Mä 16, built by ASEA in 1902. The latter was originally Gothenburg tram M1 No. 8 and was bought in 1924 by Norrköping's municipal utilities. It ran in traffic until 1961.

The museum opened to groups on 25 September 2021, and visits take place primarily during the daytime by registration. The Tramway Museum has also been open during the Kulturnatten (Culture Night) in Norrköping.
