About the museum
The idea of a school museum in Norrköping was raised in 1980, and a support association was formed in 1982 to collect school material. The museum opened in November 1993 and moved in 2000 to classrooms in Oskarsskolan. The municipality closed the activity in 2020, but the association continued to look after the collections.
The museum reopened in Lilla Hemgården, a building from the 1760s on Saltängsgatan, and was re-inaugurated on 11 September 2025. It occupies two floors where books, wall charts and visual teaching materials are displayed, together with a school room from the 1930s with sledge-style benches. The museum is run by the support association of the Norrköping School Museum.
