About the museum

Loshults hembygdsförening (Loshult local heritage association) was formed on 23 September 1952 on the initiative of Viktor Svensson, who also became its first chairman. In 1956 he bought a constable's farm (länsmansgård) from the 1750s in Hönjarum and had it moved to its present site. The farm was inaugurated on Valborg Eve (Valborgsmässoafton) in 1957, and a new loge (lodge) was built in 1958.

Later the association received, among other things, a brass foundry (gelbgjuteri) and a meadow barn (ängslada) that were moved to the heritage farmstead, and Lindhults kvarn (mill) was donated to the association. In 1981 Olof Brandetts handelsbod (village shop), which operated from 1904 to 1958, was acquired with its complete stock, and it is now in one of the buildings. A new storehouse for farm implements was built in 1995.

The local heritage museum has a large collection of farming and smithing items as well as many craft tools. The museum is open for viewings on Sundays in early summer and summer, and the association also regularly shows its other sights in the parish, including the chain factory in Killeberg.
