About the museum
The association Industrimuseet i Norrahammar was formed in 1994, but the collecting of objects and equipment had begun earlier. When the old Norrahammars Bruk (Parca) closed in the early 1990s, the company's records were gathered, and equipment from the bankrupt Parca foundry was taken care of. Gerhard Johansson was the driving force behind the museum.
The museum was housed in the old radiator building by Tabergsån. During the 1990s the exhibitions were built up in study circles, and the museum prepared to open in 1999. The idea broadened from iron and works history to the whole of Tabergsdalen, and during the 21st century the museum was expanded with models, a hydropower model of Tabergsån and new exhibitions.
Today the museum shows, on three floors, the radio museum and the fire engine on the entrance level (entréplan), Norrahammars Bruk and the companies of Tabergsdalen on the middle level, and Tabergs Bergslag on the upper floor, where there is also a memorial exhibition for the ice hockey goalkeeper Stefan Liv. In addition there is a newly opened photo museum, and for an extra fee Villa Rosenborg can be visited.
