About the museum
Persmo skola (Persmo School) was put into use in 1879 as an elementary school in the Eriksmåla school district (skolrote) and had a single classroom at the time. In 1891 the house was extended with two more rooms and a teacher’s residence. The school closed in 1929, when the pupils moved to a new school in Eriksmåla.
Algutsboda hembygdsförening (Algutsboda Local Heritage Society) bought the building in 1930 and there gained its first real meeting place. Today the house is a school museum, furnished with school benches and school equipment that give a picture of a typical school at the beginning of the 20th century.
The school lies about three kilometres north of Eriksmåla, near national road 28 and the old Kungsvägen. The museum is run by Algutsboda local heritage society, and anyone wishing to visit should contact the association.
