About the museum

Skattkammaren (the Treasury) is the museum of Uppsala Cathedral and is located in the cathedral's north tower, spread over three floors. The museum shows objects that have been used in the cathedral's services, including textiles and objects of gold and silver.

In addition, a number of remarkable objects with no church connection are shown. Drottning Margareta's golden kjortel (gown) is the world's only surviving festive gown from the Middle Ages. The so-called Sturekläderna are the only complete men's costumes that survive from the late 16th century of the Swedish Renaissance. The museum also has funeral regalia after the kings Gustav Vasa and Johan III and their queens, as well as Gustav Vasa's sword.

Visitors can walk around on their own, join an open viewing on certain Sundays, or listen to a recorded audio guide on their mobile phone that leads through the museum floor by floor.
