About the museum

Vagnsmuseet (the Carriage Museum) is in the manor house area of Österbybruk, one of Uppland's Walloon works where the iron from Dannemora mine was refined. The area is administered by Stiftelsen Österbybruks herrgård (Österbybruk Manor Foundation), which shows the works, the manor house, the preserved Walloon forge and several museums to visitors.

In the carriage museum there is a collection of carriages for all occasions, from princess carriages to carriages for everyday use. The museum lets visitors dream of a time long before today's means of transport and traffic.

The museum can be visited on one's own during the manor house's opening hours. Outside the season the manor house's public activities are closed, but private viewings and group viewings can be booked all year round.

Getting there & parking

Österbybruk lies in Norduppland, about 45 minutes by car from Uppsala. Bus 823 runs from Uppsala central station to Österbybruk. Parking is available outside the Ånghammaren at Långgatan 7.
