About the museum
The Vinorama in Ermatingen on the Untersee is run by the non-profit Stiftung Vinorama Museum Ermatingen, whose board works on a voluntary basis. It comprises the historic Haus Phönix, the former horse stable (Remise) and a rose park. The museum recalls the wine trade of the Ammann family in the 19th century and life in the village.
In Haus Phönix, the residential museum “Wohnen um 1900” shows the world of a doctor’s family: the tour begins in the kitchen, passes a utility room with bobbin lace made on site and a corridor with Art Nouveau fittings to the Biedermeier salon, and continues to the dining room, the family room with a house-music corner, and the children’s room. The rooms were set up based on photographs and building evidence; the furniture comes from the house’s own collection.
In the Remise, the exhibition covers the history of the region on the Untersee and its connection to the Reichenau monastery, with a focus on viticulture, fishing and bird hunting. Ermatingen was first mentioned in a document in 724; in 2024 the village celebrated its 1,300th anniversary, including events at the museum. A museum film, guided tours and an event room with a wedding room round out the offer.
