About the museum
Caistor Arts & Heritage Centre occupies a former Primitive Methodist chapel in the centre of the Lincolnshire Wolds market town of Caistor. The building was converted into a community centre that combines a heritage centre, exhibition spaces, a cafe and a public library, and the centre opened in 2011.
Upstairs, local history displays tell the story of the town through objects, recordings and an archive of images and documents. The Caistories project, partly funded by a Heritage Lottery grant, recorded the lives of residents over the last century in a series of seven films and an online image archive, and local schoolchildren have taken part in interviews and in an archaeological dig.
The centre also hosts changing art exhibitions in its cafe gallery and exhibition room, a regular programme of music nights and community groups, a genealogy drop-in on the second Wednesday of each month, and rooms for hire.
