About the museum
Immingham Museum is a small, independent charity next to the town library on Pelham Road. It is run entirely by volunteers and is accredited through the Arts Council England Museum Accreditation scheme.
The displays tell the story of Immingham from the escape of the Mayflower Pilgrims from its shore in 1608 to the opening of Immingham Dock by King George V in 1912, which has since grown into the largest port in the UK by tonnage. The Great Central Railway, which built the dock, is shown with a large working model railway on the first floor.
There are also room settings from the Georgian, Victorian and 1940s periods, as well as a grocery and a chemist shop. A programme of changing exhibitions runs each year.
