About the museum

The Engine Shed Museum, earlier known as Ingrow Loco, is run by the Bahamas Locomotive Society. It occupies the former Midland Railway goods warehouse beside Ingrow West station on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. The shed is an original feature of the 1867 station, and goods traffic there ended in 1962.

The building was extended to make room for a workshop where the society overhauls steam locomotives and rolling stock. Visitors can watch this work through a window from the first-floor balcony.

The museum is part of the Rail Story project, which links it with the neighbouring Carriage Works museum of the Vintage Carriages Trust and the heritage railway. The ground floor deals with railway history, trainspotting, model railways and railway photography, while the first floor explains how steam locomotives were built, worked and operated.
