About the museum
The heritage centre in Saltcoats is the main museum in North Ayrshire. It holds most of the area’s artefacts and its art collection, and it shows displays drawn from them, such as a current exhibition of costume and textiles.
The centre also supports research and the care of finds. Staff help with Treasure Trove artefact finds, give advice on researching and identifying objects, and consider offers of object donations. Visitors will find seating, a small reading library and a water dispenser inside the building, which is all on one level.
