Opening hoursAdmission £14

About the museum

The Scottish Submarine Centre opened on 11 November 2017 in a former church hall on West King Street in Helensburgh. It is a Scottish charity and describes itself as Scotland's only submarine museum and education centre.

Its centrepiece is X51 HMS Stickleback, an X-craft midget submarine. The craft stands on raised supports in the main hall, and the centre uses immersive video, audio and laser projection to tell the story of the submarine service and of the submariners who crewed her.

The visit is organised around timed shows in the hall, including a show called X-Craft "Dive Deep" and a presentation on X51. The main hall can also be hired for private events and corporate events, with a 360-degree projection system, and the centre hosts live music and performances.
