Over het museum
The former wine museum in Ehnen showed the history of viticulture on the Luxembourg Moselle through winemaking tools, bottling equipment, old documents and photographs. It is currently being converted and expanded into the Wäinhaus. The project is considered a flagship initiative for wine tourism; the total cost is reported at about €9.5 million.
The Wäinhaus combines three listed buildings from the 16th and 18th centuries (Wellenstein, Schëntgen and Kelterhaus) with a new building into a single ensemble. A scientific committee oversees the content, and the office NJOY architecture is responsible for interior design and scenography.
The planned immersive exhibition covers the landscape, people and territory of the Moselle, with spaces such as “Terroir,” “La vigne” and “Wäin.” There will also be a bistro and a wine shop with around 160 wines and crémants from the region. According to the official project website, the opening is planned for spring 2027.
