About the museum
Sölden's connection to James Bond began in 2015, when parts of the 24th Bond film “Spectre” were shot around the Gaislachkogl. The summit restaurant ice Q served as the backdrop for the “Hoffler Clinic”, while the glacier road and the middle station of the Gaislachkogl cable car were locations for chase and cable-car scenes.
On 12 July 2018, the Bergbahnen Sölden opened the 007 Elements experience right next to the ice Q at 3,048 metres. The building by Obermoser arch-omo is largely set underground into the rock of the summit and spans two levels with about 1,300 square metres. The exhibition concept was developed by Bond art director Neal Callow together with the creative team of Optimist Inc. under Tino Schaedler.
Nine rooms lead through the world of the Bond films with video installations, sound, interactive stations and original props: from the famous title sequence to the making of the films, gadgets and filming locations, up to the action scenes shot in Sölden, including an aircraft from the chase. In between, views open up onto the Ötztal Alps. The exhibition can only be reached by the Gaislachkogl cable car, so its opening hours follow the cable car's winter and summer seasons.
