About the museum
The old primary school of Niederabsdorf on Liechtensteinstraße was built in 1885/86 to plans by Karl Weinbrenner, chief architect to Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein. In 1986 the Kulturverein Niederabsdorf opened its local history museum there, which also operates under the name EUSEUM.
Inside the building, the association shows a reconstructed old classroom, tools and products of the crafts, information on the flora and fauna of the March-Thaya floodplains, and equipment of the local fire brigade. Agricultural implements stand in the courtyard. The building was recently modernized and is also used for lectures, workshops and events of the association.
An outpost of the museum is the former World War II aircraft observation bunker above a sunken lane in the cellar lanes Saurissl and Alte Ried, which can be reached via a hiking trail. The association's website also dedicates its own pages to Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein and the history of Niederabsdorf.
