About the museum

On August 1, 1664, an imperial army under Count Raimund Montecuccoli defeated an Ottoman force near Mogersdorf. The battle is regarded as a turning point in the Turkish Wars. The memory of it is kept alive by the Schlösslverein Mogersdorf, which has developed the idea of peace and mutual understanding among peoples out of remembrance of the battle.

Since 1979, a memorial room has been set up in the so-called Kreuzstadel on the Schlösslberg. It comprises three areas with pictures, documents and other exhibits on the battle, including a battle model, weapons and armor. In a presentation room, a documentary of about 30 minutes with 2D and 3D animations is shown; in addition, multimedia background information on people, weapons and the stations of the Friedensweg can be accessed.

The memorial room is also the starting point of the Friedensweg, a circular path around the Schlösslberg in the Raab Nature Park with several stations on history, culture and peace.
