About the museum
The Őrségi Népi Műemlékegyüttes (Őrség Folk Monument Complex) at Pityerszer preserves one of the best-preserved examples of the Őrség settlement structure: 200–300-year-old log-walled houses stand in their original places, arranged in szer groups. The dwelling houses, the farm buildings and the farming tools within them evoke the world and customs of Őrség life.
Within the complex, an orchard educational trail of about 300 metres leads through meadows and old fruit varieties; the Felsőszer and Körtike educational trails also start from here. The complex is run by the Őrségi Nemzeti Park Igazgatóság (Őrség National Park Directorate), which offers craft programmes (pretzel baking, gingerbread decorating, pumpkin-seed oil pressing, archery, folk games), animal demonstrations and group treasure hunts.
