About the museum
The museum is housed in a restored former karavla (frontier guard house) in Čepinci. The renovation is part of the Mura Raba Tour tourist product: the karavla is a starting, finishing or intermediate station on the walking route “Po peš poteh graničarjev” (On the Footpaths of the Border Guards) and on the riding route “Po konjeniških poteh graničarjev” (On the Cavalry Trails of the Border Guards), and at the same time an independent tourist attraction.
The collection, with pictorial and text material and authentic objects, presents the life of border guards, police officers and local residents under constant control at the state border. On the guided tour, visitors hear stories from the memories of local residents about how the border guards lived and what life at the border was like in the past.
