About the museum
The Schaliënhoeve is the last surviving historic farm in Berchem, once a rural spot. The Kempen-style farm dates from around 1550 and is listed as protected architectural heritage.
In the attic of the house-and-stable building, Heemkring Berchem presents its Berchem heritage, and you can also see the remarkable roof structure. The collection consists of society banners, porcelain, glassware, toys, tools from various crafts, lighting fixtures and works by Berchem artists, largely thanks to donations from Berchem residents. There is also a heritage library.
The farm's barn houses Restaurant-Brasserie Park West. The whole site lies in Domein Park West on the Rooiplein.
