About the museum
The museum is housed in a modern building completed in 2006. It keeps the Novigrad lapidarium, a cultural good of national significance. The collection comprises architectural elements and liturgical furnishings from the 1st to the 18th century.
The most important part is the early medieval collection with the well-preserved ciborium of Bishop Mauricije from the late 8th century, one of the rare examples of Early Carolingian art in the region. Cultural events and exhibitions are also held in the museum.
