About the museum
Palača Bettica (Bettica Palace) in Vodnjan was most likely built in the 14th century; the Bettica family became its owners in the 16th century. After renovation, the palace was ceremoniously opened on 29 November 2008. On the ground floor, archaeological finds from early medieval sacral buildings are displayed. On the first floor is a collection of paintings that the painter Gaetano Gresler bequeathed to the town of Vodnjan in 1818, and the second floor presents the history of the palace itself, including fragments of Renaissance wall paintings.
