About the museum
The Posjetiteljski centar Kanal sv. Ante is the central place for presenting the biodiversity and the natural and cultural values of the protected areas of Šibenik-Knin County. It is located in Minerska bay, one of the most accessible bays in the channel, reached both by land and by sea. The bay was once part of the military complex of the Yugoslav People’s Army, whose buildings, warehouses and piers were inaccessible to the citizens of Šibenik for decades.
The exhibition “Dodir rijeke i mora” links the natural and cultural heritage of the Kanal sv. Ante, its wildlife and the morphology of the Krka estuary, and presents all the other protected areas of the county. Visitors can expect numerous visual displays, didactic models of the seabed, multimedia content and virtual reality devices, and the visit is accompanied by an interpreter.
The building has a multimedia hall, a souvenir shop, a café with a winter garden and terrace, a children’s playground and a dry-stone amphitheatre for outdoor educational programmes. A path for blind and partially sighted visitors, with five stations described in Braille, runs along the promenade from the Škar bay.
