About the museum
The exhibition was officially opened on 28 July 2012 as part of the project Regionem renesance nejen po stopách historie. It is housed in Hodice station on the Kostelec – Slavonice line, and some of the exhibits stand outside next to the station. It is run by the municipality of Hodice. In 2010 the station was named one of the ten most beautiful railway stations in the Czech Republic.
The core of the collection is the private collection of Jiří Holoubek, a former points operator and train manager. It is complemented by a brief history of the line and photographs from its construction to the present day.
The exhibits include a working speedometer from a locomotive, part of a level crossing keeper's post with a working crank, an old wheel used to haul earth, with which workers built the line more than a hundred years ago, and working lamps from a steam locomotive.
