About the museum
The Třešť branch of the Muzeum Vysočiny Jihlava has been housed since 2003 in the restored Schumpeter House. The house belonged to the family of local manufacturers named Schumpeter, from which came the world-renowned economist Josef Alois Schumpeter, born in Třešť in 1883.
Part of the exhibition is devoted to his life and work; it was created from available archival materials by the museum in cooperation with the town of Třešť and the Muzejní spolek (Museum Society). Other permanent exhibitions present the vanished industry of Třešť and nativity-scene making, a traditional local craft. The Zámecký pokoj (Castle Room) and a shoemaker's workshop can also be seen.
The branch holds short-term thematic exhibitions, public lectures and educational programmes for nursery and primary schools. It cooperates with the Muzejní spolek in Třešť.
