About the museum

The Malé muzeum Bible in Pelhřimov is run by the Biblický teologický seminář, z. s. (Biblical Theological Seminary, civic association). It is devoted to the Bible as the most printed, most translated and most read book in the world, and also to the history of printing. It recalls, for example, that the Gutenberg Bible of 1454–1455 was the first printed book, and that the Bible was the first book to reach the Moon, with the Apollo 14 mission in 1971.

On the guided tour, visitors become acquainted with the atmosphere of a 16th-century printing workshop and the work of the type designer, type founder, typesetter, printer and bookbinder. On a replica of a 16th-century printing press, visitors can print a page of the Kralice Bible themselves. On display are originals of the Kralice Bible, a Hebrew Torah scroll more than two centuries old, the smallest Bible in the world, a Bible made of Lego and Minecraft, a waterproof Bible in an aquarium, and hundreds of other exhibits.

For groups that register in advance, the museum prepares an interactive programme with workshops.
