About the museum
The Museum of Records and Curiosities in Pelhřimov is run by the Agency Dobrý den, which records and verifies Czech records. In the course of its activity it has gathered more than ten thousand records; it publishes the Česká kniha rekordů (Czech Book of Records), and a records festival also takes place in Pelhřimov. The museum presents the most interesting of them, and its exhibitions are regularly changed in line with new record attempts.
Until 1 November 2026 visitors can see three sites: the historic tower in the Dolní brána (Lower Gate), with exhibits of the largest, smallest, longest, heaviest and fastest achievements; the Zlaté české ručičky exhibition on the Nábřeží Rekordů a kuriozit embankment; and the garden with giant objects. The basis of the Zlaté české ručičky exhibition is a collection of more than ninety objects made of matches and matchheads, which the museum describes as the most extensive of its kind in the world.
From 2 November 2026 the tower will remain closed to the public, and the exhibition on the embankment will be in operation. The operator is extending it with a large garden Gallery of Records, with new giant exhibits. In spring 2027 the Agency Dobrý den plans to open a new exhibition in Jindřichův Hradec.
