About the museum

Pachtův Špejchar is a storeyed granary of stone masonry at the head of farmstead No. 10, in the north-western part of the village green in Stanovice. Two dates appear in the gable: 1862 and 1596. The latter probably marks the construction of the building, which makes the granary one of the oldest known vernacular buildings in the Pelhřimov region and in south-eastern Bohemia. The façade retains plaster with incised ashlar and sgraffito decoration; the ventilation openings were cut into the finished façade later.

The granary has been listed as a cultural monument since 2004. The repairs were paid for by the owner, Pavel Pachta, together with the municipality of Nová Cerekev and the Vysočina Region (Kraj Vysočina).

In 2006 a small agricultural museum was set up in the granary, managed by the Pachta family. The exhibition shows everyday life and work in a Czech village at the beginning of the 20th century. A horse trail also runs through the village to support the preservation of traditions; at the original farmstead it is possible to stay overnight, including with a horse, and horses can be hired if needed.
