About the museum

Malý svět techniky U6 is housed in the historic brick building of the former Power Station VI in the Dolní Vítkovice complex, completed in 1938. The hall is dominated by the original giant blowers, weighing 900 tonnes. The building stands opposite the Velký svět techniky (Great World of Technology), and together they form a pair of interactive exhibitions in the area.

The exhibition covers about 900 m² and is guided by the vision and work of Jules Verne: visitors move from human and animal power through the steam engine and metallurgy to combustion engines, aviation and space flight. All exhibits are interactive and can be tried out.

In June 2023 U6 underwent extensive renewal. A section on shipping was added, with pedal car races and a simulation of a ship's captain; a walkway to a viewing platform above the blowers at a height of 12 metres; a pneumatic tube post; and a new metal workshop where visitors can try cutting, bending and stamping sheet metal and make their own badge.
