About the museum

The MJ-S 15 “Závora” bunker stands south of the village of Dyjákovice on an embankment above the Dyje River, almost on the state border. It is a two-sided second-class bunker that withstood artillery shells up to 240 mm caliber. Concreting took place in August 1938; because of the Munich events, the bunker remained in its rough construction, without interior fittings, armament or armored bells. After 1960 it was called “Hráz” (Embankment).

After the war the army continued to plan with the fortifications. Construction modifications were completed in 1947–1948, and in 1950 newly manufactured armored bells were installed. During the Cold War the bunker was adapted to protect the crew even from the pressure wave of nuclear weapons, for example by dividing the rooms with blast-proof doors and modifying the filter ventilation. The army used it until the 1990s.

Today the bunker is operated and gradually reconstructed by the MJ-S 15 association, which wants to show period equipment and weapons. Visitors can see the modernized filter ventilation system, the armored bells with their equipment, or the original pump. Two light vz. 37 structures stand nearby.
