About the museum
The house in Lány was built in 1928 at her own expense by Alice G. Masaryková, daughter of President T. G. Masaryk, for the local group of the Czechoslovak Red Cross. The building with its surrounding garden served as a model social house and one of the first counselling centres for mothers with children, until 1991.
From 2018 to 2022 the building was completely reconstructed and a new modern multimedia exhibition was created here. It presents the personality of Alice G. Masaryková, who went down in the history of Czechoslovakia mainly as the founder of the Czech Red Cross, and also tells the history of the Red Cross. The building is barrier-free, and its exterior is decorated with a bronze bench with a sculpture of a nursing mother, lent to the museum free of charge by the sculptor Lea Vivot. The museum is one of the branches of the T. G. M. Museum Rakovník.
