About the museum
The Vracov museum came into being after the 1965 exhibition “Vracov dříve a dnes” (Vracov Then and Now), at which costumes, embroidery, household furnishings, tools and crockery were on view. The people who had lent the objects wanted them to stay in the town, so it was decided to set up a small museum. The town bought two cottages in Baráky Street for this purpose.
The museum was at one time open during festivals. Over time the collections were no longer looked after by curators and the objects began to deteriorate, so they were moved into one of the cottages. In 2015 the second cottage was renovated, given a new roof, and newly acquired objects were placed in it.
Today the first building shows life at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, and the second is furnished with objects from the mid-20th century. The museum also includes a small wine cellar and a courtyard. It is run by the Town of Vracov.
