About the museum
The château in Milotice was built in 1719 to 1743 by Karel Antonín Serényi. The last private owner was JUDr. Ladislav Seilern (1886–1976), whose family lived in the château until 1945. Today the château is managed by the National Heritage Institute.
The basic route, Representative Halls, is based on the account of the last owner’s daughter and introduces the state rooms as well as the living rooms, which show the family’s everyday life. The château also has a park and garden, which are accessible without barriers.
The château offers three routes: the basic tour; costumed tours, in which visitors put on replicas of period costume and immerse themselves in the Baroque era; and costumed tours for nursery and primary schools. A café and a costume hire service for children are available at the château.
