Bindeballe Station
Small station of the former Vandelbane in the Vejle Ådal with a recreated ticket counter, living room, and an exhibition on station life in the 1930s.
About the museum
Bindeballe Station was built in 1897 as a halt on the railway line from Vejle to Vandel, the so-called Vandelbane, which was extended to Grindsted from 1914. The simple, one-and-a-half-story brick building with a gable roof stood next to a passing loop; fertilizer, peat, and timber, among other things, were loaded at the station. Opposite, a merchant's yard, today's Bindeballe Købmandsgård, was built at the same time as the railway.
After the line was closed, the route was converted into the Bindeballestien hiking and cycling path, which leads from Vejle through the valley to the station. The station building now belongs to the Vejlemuseerne, the museum association of Vejle Municipality, and is freely accessible as an unstaffed museum.
Inside, the ticket counter, waiting room, and the living room of the station staff have been restored with many original items. A small exhibition describes everyday life at a country station in the 1930s, when work and private life of railway employees were hard to separate. A redesigned exhibition opened in May 2026. On the tracks stand three passenger cars more than a hundred years old, which were restored by the association Bindeballe Stations Venner.
