Odsherred Brandmuseum

Fire museum in Asnæs with more than 26 historic emergency vehicles, equipment, and a specialist library on the history of Danish fire departments.

Opening hoursAdmission from DKK 70

About the museum

The impetus came from the Dragsholm Brandværnsforening: on February 23, 2006, representatives of several fire brigade associations in the region founded the independent institution Odsherred Brandmuseum in order to show their historic vehicles together under one roof and at the same time give the association its own premises. A private donation of DKK 1 million and the support of the then Dragsholm Municipality made the construction possible.

In autumn 2006, an exhibition hall of more than 1,100 square meters was built in the industrial area of Asnæs. The association members did the interior work themselves – in over 5,000 volunteer hours they laid, among other things, 38,000 paving stones by hand. On October 6, 2007, the museum was officially opened. The Dragsholm Brandværnsforening, as a friends' association, remains responsible for day-to-day operations to this day.

On display are motor pumps, ladder and hose trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles from all over Denmark and some from Sweden, mostly owned by the participating fire brigade associations, along with equipment from various eras. A special feature is the library with annual reports, photos, films, and literature of Danish fire departments, which according to the museum is the only one of its kind in the country.
