About the museum
The Eesti Vabadusvõitluse Muuseum (Estonian Freedom Struggle Museum) is located in Lagedi, in a bend of the Pirita river in Külma park, which before the Second World War belonged to Voldemar Päts, the brother of President Konstantin Päts. The owner of the museum is a non-profit association; the founder is Johannes Tõrs. The idea of the museum arose in 1988.
The exhibition presents the military history of the 20th century: the land and sea battles fought for Estonia, from the War of Independence to the Cold War. The displays include military equipment, weapons, uniforms and decorations, as well as materials on Estonian units that fought in the War of Independence and in the Second World War. The collection of small arms includes weapons from 26 countries, and the heavy equipment includes tanks, armoured vehicles, transporters and guns. By arrangement you can also try a ride in a T-34/85 tank.
