About the museum
The Kolga muuseum is the local history museum of the Kuusalu parish, located in the administrator’s house of Kolga manor, one of the largest manors in Estonia. The museum collects, preserves and presents materials from the 64 villages of Kuusalu rural municipality, above all from the area of the former Kuusalu parish, from the rural municipalities of Kiiu, Kõnnu, Kolga, Kodasoo and Suru.
The museum has more than twenty permanent exhibitions, including rooms on the themes of the manor, the school, peasant tools, the forest, fishing, sport, medicine, nostalgic 1960s–1970s and utopian 1950s. The stories of Kolga manor and of the Kolga settlement and its monastery estate from the 13th century, through the Soviet occupation to the present day, are also told. The museum is screen-free, and visitors are told the stories in person on two floors.
