About the museum
The Viinistu Art Museum is in the fishing village of Viinistu in Kuusalu Parish, near Lahemaa, and is the only private art museum in Estonia. The museum’s rooms contain an exhibition of more than four hundred works from the art collection of Jaan Manitski, covering the work of Estonian artists from the 19th century to the present day.
The collection represents Estonian art from the Baltic German period and the Pallas School to the present, and gives a good overview of the development of Estonian art. The art harbour is adorned, in addition to the main building, by two converted water tanks, in which the barrel gallery shows guest exhibitions. The same complex has a restaurant, accommodation, seminar rooms and an artist residency.
