About the museum
The kolhooside ehituskontor, or KEK, was a cooperative construction organisation set up with the resources of the kolkhozes. The Saare KEK building was completed in 1982 to a design by the architect Marika Lõoke; it is a notable example of Soviet-era constructivism and a protected building. After several decades of standing empty, the house has been reopened and is being renovated continuously. A museum is housed in the building, and concerts and events take place there.
